Another year passed. December is here again and it’s truly the most wonderful time of the year. It’s the holiday season and the last days before the new year. There’s magic in the air. All the decorations that illuminate every street with magical, romantic lights, all the candles and all the treats, excite everyone. There are many things to do in December!
In the south, Santa Claus is coming… on jet skis. But north of the equator, the weather is cold. This is the perfect excuse to stay cozy by the fire, or snuggled in a warm blanket, drinking hot beverages and spending quality time with people you love. Of course, a Christmas tree and other beautiful decorations turn your home into a magical place under the flickering light of candles.
In December there are so many things you can do, as long as you have the time and the mood for them. You can enjoy yourself, indulge, retrospect or just take good care of yourself. Go to Christmas markets. This is a must. Bake holiday treats and savor them. Enjoy the Christmas lights with a cup of Glühwein in your hands. Think about how the year passed and make plans for the new one. Have fun because you deserve it.
Reflect on your year
These are the last days of the year. But how was your year? December is the best time to reflect on your year and do the inner audit. Take your time and analyze what has happened in these twelve months. Think about what you have accomplished. What challenges did you overcame, and which held you back? Can you measure your growth so far?
Count the goals you achieved. See where you failed and understand the reasons you did so. Study how you faced unexpected obstacles and develop your own strategies to use in the future. Note what went well and in which areas you need to improve in the year that is coming in a few days.
All that are experiences gained, and they provide insights. You can use them to see who you really are and what matters for you the most. Use them to acknowledge who you are today and set your intentions for the future. Dream big and envision the life you want to create for yourself in the coming year.
Celebrate your success
After you reflect on your year and do your inner audit, you’ll see where you have triumphed. Ok, you also see where you did just alight, but that’s all it takes to move your life forward. For that reason though, you have to celebrate your success. Celebrate all the small victories that brought you where you stand today. You owe it to yourself!
Give yourself a break for all you didn’t accomplish and celebrate all the hard work you put into, no matter what the outcome. Celebrate every little victory you achieved throughout the year. It’s very important! Treat yourself to something special. Feel happy and satisfied knowing that you did something for yourself and your well-being.
December isn’t only about making presents for others. It’s also about rewarding yourself and recognizing all the efforts you made. Be proud of what you have accomplished. It will help you build your momentum and give you the strength you need for another year of success, growth and happiness.
Treat yourself with seasonal treats
You waited the whole year to indulge in all the delicious seasonal treats that come with the holiday spirit in December. You have worked hard all year long to stay in shape. Even if you didn’t, it doesn’t matter. Now is the time to treat yourself. And how you couldn’t while surrounded with all those delicious little pieces of heaven.
Warm, sweet wine, or Glühwein as you’ll find it in Europe, will give you warmth on cold, winter nights. Rich and decadent hot chocolate will sweeten each day. Gingerbread cookies, and all kinds of cakes and pies will satisfy any sweet tooth craving. All seasonal scents and flavors that take you to a magical trip and make you revisit your childhood.
Eat that extra slice of cake. Splurge on that fancy coffee as you walk around in the evening, surrounded by all the flickering lights on the street. Life is simple and you don’t need much to be happy. In fact, as you feel merry and bright, simple treats of Christmas can turn these already special moments into times of true happiness.
Have fun
In December, the world seems to slow down a little. The holiday season is the best opportunity for you to also slow down and just have fun. It’s not like summer when you feel so energized. In December it’s dark and cold but it’s also magical, enchanting and romantic.
You can step back and enjoy life. Feel the Christmas spirit and start having fun with people you really like or even by yourself. Enjoy cozy evenings and romantic nights. Let the festive mood carry you away and give in to the simple pleasures of a season perfect to have some well-deserved fun.
You do deserve to have some fun, you know! After a year filled with challenges, hard work and growth, these times are for you. Earn it! Take that winter vacation. Enjoy every festive tradition. Celebrate, laugh and feel the warmth of this magical time of the year in ways that make you have fun.
Reach out to old friends
December, with the holiday season and the memories it brings, can make you remember older times. You recall all the fun and you bring to mind all the mental images of times long gone and of people who were part of your life. It’s never too late to reconnect with old friends.
Life brought it this way and you didn’t keep in touch. It doesn’t mean necessarily that something went wrong between you. Times change and so do you. So does everyone else. Everyone follows their own path. Life happens and you cannot keep up the way you used to.
Pick up the phone. Make that call or just send a small text. If you’re more romantic, send a heartfelt holiday card. December is a great opportunity to catch up. Go have some coffee together. Share how your lives changed. Remember the old days and bring back memories. Then, each one will take their path, not knowing when you’ll meet again.
Create room for new things
In December, the year winds down as we approach the beginning of a new one. It seems right that anything old should go away. In your new year’s resolutions make it your goal to create room for new things to welcome in your life. This is a great opportunity to embrace change and start fresh.
Let go of the past. Let go of old baggage and all the negative thoughts that weigh you down. Reflect on the year you’re about to leave behind. Learn from your experiences and choose intentionally what you want of the new year to bring along. Declutter your life of all the garbage and only keep what is of great value for you.
Leave behind anything that no longer serves you and make way for all the wonderful things that lie ahead. Prepare for a brighter future. Make room for positivity and growth. The future is unknown, but it will surely bring something new. Be ready for it and give yourself the chance to welcome new opportunities.
Remember how far you’ve gone
Now is the time to remember how far you’ve gone. There are some moments in life that you just sit down and think of the story so far. There are some big milestones in life, like your birthday or the end of the year. The end of another year is around the corner and it’s the perfect time to reflect on all the accomplishments and growth you brought to yourself
Take a moment to appreciate all the challenges you’ve overcome, the goals you’ve achieved, and the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Celebrate your success and use it as motivation to keep pushing forward in the new year. Remember what went wrong and use it as a lesson.
As you look back on the past year, turn your attention to what comes ahead and look at your future with optimism and determination. Stay focused, stay positive, and keep pushing. Keep moving forward towards a brighter and more fulfilling life. You may have gone far, but the road is still open in front of you. The sky is the limit!
